Siddheshwari Kali Mandir Meherpur

The ancient Sree Sree Siddheshwari Kali Mandir is located in Bara Bazar near Meherpur district headquarters. It is known as the district central temple to local Hindus. During the liberation war in 1971, the Pakistani invaders and their allies attacked this temple and destroyed the idol of Bala Devi inside the temple. After independence, the local Hindus once again installed idols inside the temple and started offering regular pujas. Every year various Hindu rituals are organized in this Kali temple including Kali Puja, Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja. On the last Sankranti of the month of Baisakh, the Baisakh Sankranti fair is held around Sri Sri Siddheshari Kali Temple. At that time, many interested visitors from different parts of the country came to see the fair.

From Dhaka, one has to cross the Padma Bridge by road and go to Meherpur. Meherpur can be reached by JR, Royal, SM, Meherpur Deluxe, Chuadanga Express, SB Pariwan and Shyamoli Pariwan AC/Non-AC buses from Gabtali and Kalyanpur in Dhaka. Bus fare non AC 600-700 taka, AC 800-1300 taka. Besides, you can go to Meherpur from Paturia Ferry Ghat via Faridpur, Chuadanga or Rajbari. Sri Sri Siddheshwari Kali Mandir can be reached on foot from the zero point of Meherpur city.

For night stay, there are several residential hotels in Bus Stand Road and Big Bazaar of Meherpur city, among them Hotel Night Luxury, Hotel Anabil, Prince Residential, Finn Tower and Roni Residential Hotel are among them. Also overnight stay can be done in Tourist Motel, Circuit House, Ganpoort Rest House and Dak Bungalow of Zilla Parishad subject to permission.

You can eat quality food at Kutumbari Restaurant, Cafe Inn, Ghalibs etc. located in Meherpur Sadar. Savitri and Rasakdamba sweets are among the famous dishes of Meherpur. Also, don't miss out on tasting the famous ripe mangoes of Meherpur during the mango season.
