Introduction to Amjhupi Neelkuthi Meherpur

Amjhupi Neelkuthi, established during the British rule, located in Meherpur district, is a historical archeological monument of Bangladesh. The distance of Amjhupi Neelkuthi from Meherpur district is about 7 km. In the early 1800s, the building was used as an indigo factory, but later the East India Company office was opened here.
There are two roads to enter Nilkuthi, situated on the banks of Kajala River. Spread over an area of ​​more than 77 acres, the Neelkuthi complex has a main building with 15 rooms in the middle. The rooms in the main building include the dining room, hall room, guest quarters and jalsa room. And outside the building there are beautiful gardens and parks. In 1972, the first Bangladesh government took steps to conserve the Amzhupi Neelkuthi.

how to go

If you want to go to Amzhupi Neelkuthi, you have to come to Meherpur first . Meherpur can be reached by crossing Padma Bridge via Bangabandhu Bridge or by ferry. AC/Non-AC buses of SB Paribahan, JR, Shyamoli and RK Paribahan leave Meherpur from Kalyanpur in capital Dhaka via Bangabandhu Bridge.
Besides, buses of JR, Royal, SM, Meherpur Deluxe, Chuadanga Deluxe travel across Padma Bridge from Dhaka's Gabtali. The ticket fare for each seat of these buses varies from Tk 600 to Tk 1300.
It takes 20 to 25 minutes to go directly to Amjhupi Neelkuthi by bus or any local transport system from Meherpur district headquarters.

For overnight stay there are several residential hotels including Dak Bungalow, Circuit House, Municipal Hall and Finn Tower of Zilla Parishad. Apart from this, there is accommodation in the rest house of Palashipra Samaj Kalyan Samiti of Gangni Upazila.

Meherpur has several hotels and restaurants for dining. But definitely don't make the mistake of eating ripe mangoes if you go to Meherpur during the mango season. Besides, you can taste the taste of sweets called Savitri in Meherpur city.
