Introduction to Nine Dome Mosque Bagerhat

The historic Nine Dome Mosque is located on the west bank of Thakur Dighi in Bagerhat , the city of mosques , and southeast of Khan Jahan's (RA) mausoleum. Built in the 15th century, each wall of this square mosque is 15.24 meters long and 2.23 meters thick. The roof of the mosque has nine semi-circular domes. There are four special pillars inside the mosque to provide stability to the domes. Three entrances can be seen on the eastern, northern and southern walls of the mosque. And there are 3 beautiful mihrabs on the western wall.
Although the central mihrab is relatively large, each mihrab is decorated with terracotta flowers, vines and leaves. The four-cornered round turrets of the nine-domed mosque are surrounded by eight brackets in brickwork. The slightly curving Carnesh carvings represent the architecture of the Khachit Nai Dome Mosque during the reign of Khan Jahan (RA). Near the Nine Dome Mosque is the Zinda Pir Mosque and Shrine. It is currently a monument preserved under the Directorate of Archeology of Bangladesh.
