Niladri Limestone Lake

Niladri Lake (Niladri Lake) famous tourist spot is an abandoned limestone quarry lime stone lake. Niladri Lake is located in Tekerghat village of North Sreepur Union of Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj District . The real name of this lake is Shaheed Siraj Lake. But in the traveling community this lake is better known as Niladri. However, local people know it as Tekerghat Pathar Quarry. The beautiful blue water of the lake, the combination of small hills and mountains have made Niladri Lake possess unearthly beauty. Many tourists refer to Niladri Lake as the Kashmir of Bengal due to its distinctive features.

You can visit Niladri Lake by two routes from Dhaka. You can go to Niladri Lake by any route as per your convenience.

Route Plan – 1 Every day Mamun and Shyamoli transport buses leave for Sunamganj from Sayedabad bus stand in Dhaka and Ena transport buses leave from Mohakhali. It takes Tk 820-850 per person to get a ticket on these non-AC buses and it takes about six hours to reach Sunamganj. You can rent a motorcycle to go to Tekerghat in the new bridge area of ​​Sunamganj city. If you reserve the motorcycle, the rent will be from 300 to 400 taka. While crossing the Yadukata river on the way, a fare of Tk 5 per person and Tk 10 for motorbikes is to be paid.

From Sunamganj (Sunamganj) to come to Lauder on a motorcycle, the fare will be 200 taka. From there, you can get a motorcycle from Barikka Tila to Tekerghat for 120 taka across Jadukata river. Note that two persons have been caught in the case of motorcycle reserve or rent.

Route Plan – 2 Two intercity trains named Haor Express and Mohanganj Express depart from Dhaka at 10:15 PM and 1:15 PM respectively towards Mohanganj in Netrokona. You can go on this train at a fare of Tk 205-851. It takes 1 hour to go from Mohanganj to Madhyanagar. Tekerghat can be reached by trawler, speedboat or boat during monsoon from Madhyanagar (Pipra Kanda Ghat). Again from Netrakona you can directly hire a boat or trawler to go to Tekerghat. However, motorcycles are used to go from Netrakona to Tekerghat in winter.

Route Plan – 3 You can also take a different route during monsoons. You can go to Tekerghat from Sunamganj via Tanguar Haor by boat. Tahirpur can be easily reached by Laguna/CNG/Bike near the big bridge built over Surma River after Sunamganj. Rent a boat according to size and capacity from boat ghat in Tahirpur. Hire a boat so that you can visit Tekerghat by seeing the Tanguare Haor.

Niladri Lake, Magical River, Shimul Garden , Barek Tila and Tanguar Haor are close by so you can divide your time and see the favorite places. Besides, if you want to see Niladri Lake, Jadukata River, Shimul Bagan, Barek Tila during dry season or in one day, you can visit Niladri Lake via Barek Tila, Jadukata River, Shimul Bagan and return to Sunamganj with a motorbike reserve from Sunamganj city. In this case, depending on the season, motorbike rental will be 800 to 1200 taka and two people can travel on each bike.

Or if you want to travel to the places mentioned separately, you can easily reach Barek/Barikka Tila by taking a small boat across the Jadukata River to reach Lauder in 1 hour and 20 minutes by bike from Sunamganj for a fare of Tk 200. And one can enjoy the unique beauty of Jadukata river from Barek Tila. You can rent a bike from Barek Tila to Shimul Bagan and Niladri Lake. It will cost 150 to 180 taka to reserve a bike for a trip to Shimul Bagan and Niladri Lake together. Note that if you want to return to Sunamganj city after seeing Shimul Bagan and Niladri Lake, you will have to travel the same way again, so if you go out at the beginning of the day, you can easily see all the places.

There are several guest houses in Barachara Bazar. In all these guest houses you will get a room between 200 and 400 taka. Accommodation is also available in Tahirpur Bazar and if available you can spend the night at the old limestone factory guest house near Niladri Lake.

Barikka Tila has a typical country food hotel. Apart from that, you will find a good quality restaurant for food in the small market of Tekerghat next to Barachhara Bazaar or Jadukata. But for good quality food hotel you have to come to Sunamganj city.
