Ashtagram Haor is located in Ashtagram Upazila of Kishoreganj District. Ashtagram is about 60 kilometers from Kishoreganj district headquarters. Mithamin and Itna of Kishoreganj district are to the north, Nashir Nagar of Brahmanbaria district is to the south, Nashirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district and Lakhai upazila of Habiganj district are to the east, and Bajitpur and Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj district are to the west. Ashtagram is situated in the center of Haor.

Ways to go to Ashtagram Haor

If you are coming by bus, there is a BRTC bus service from Dhaka to Bajitpur. Besides, you can get CNG in Bajitpur from the bus stop by getting off any bus going from Golapbagh in Dhaka to Kishoreganj. From Bajitpur Bazar come to Dighir Par by easy bike or CNG.
Or take any train to Bhairav ​​railway station, take a rickshaw to Bhairav ​​Bazar. From there you can reach Bajitpur by local CNG.
If you want to go to Ashtagram via Kishoreganj district headquarters, come to Balikhola Ghat from Kishoreganj. During dry season you can go to Mithamine by crossing the ferry by easybike/motorcycle. From there you can go to Ashtagram via Haor Road by Easybike/Motorbike.
If the ferry is closed during monsoon, you can go to Ashtagram by local boat or reserve boat.

If you visit Hawar during a full moon, it could be an unforgettable night. You can relax on a boat under the moonlight or find a nice spot for camping. Bring essentials like tents and hammocks. must be taken with you from Dhaka for camping.

Hotels and Resorts in Ashtagram

There are no very good quality residential hotels to stay in Ashtagram. The primary location is the Zila Parishad Dak Bungalow. 300 to 1500 taka rent depending on the room. To stay at Dak Bungalow, it's best to book ahead. Call 0171-0291225 or 01914-975389, speak with the caretaker, and resolve everything. Ashtagram Bazar has three standard residential hotels namely Rangdhanu Residential Hotel (01916-122499), Mau-Mitu Residential Hotel (01715-345142) and Jhalak Residential Hotel (01973-278431). The rent will be 150 to 600 taka depending on the room.
If you want to go camping, you can. Just make sure to pick a good spot and stay safe. Take help of local people if necessary.

Where to eat / what to eat

If you want to cook, you can buy ingredients from the local market and prepare them in the morning. At Nazir or Prabhati Hotel in Ashtagram Bazar, you can find fresh Haor fish curry in different varieties. Don't forget to try the fresh fish. Ashtagram is known for some of the best paneer in Bangladesh, but you need to inform the local paneer vendors a day or two in advance about the quantity you need. If you visit Ashtagram in winter, you can try the now famous murali, which is about 10 inches long.

Travel Warning

In case of camping, try to stay near the main land of Ashtagram i.e. Ashtagram Bazar. If 15 or more people go, may have to report to OC at local police station, help police with information for safety. If intending to spend the night on the boat, try to stay as close as possible, preferably accompanied by a local.
