Tagore Lodge Kushtia

In Milpara of Kushtia city, there is a red colored two-storied elaborate 'Tegar Lodge or Tagore Lodge', the memorial of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. In 1895, Kabiguru Tagore & Company came to Kushtia for business work and built the Tagore Lodge, the witness of the present day.

A bust of Kabiguru is placed at the entrance of the Tegar Lodge, built on nine kathas of land. There is a large hall on the ground floor and one of the three rooms on the upper floor contains copies of Kabiguru's books and 12 paintings by Kabiguru. There is a beautiful wrought iron staircase at the corner of the west side porch to rise from the first floor to the second floor.

Tegor Lodge has a green grass covered courtyard and a small open stage. Various cultural programs are organized on various occasions including Rabindra Jayanthi in this free stage. At Tegar Lodge, the poet composed numerous poems, which were later published in 'Khanika' and 'Katha O Kahini'.

The Tegor Lodge building is located on Kabi Azizur Rahman Road, next to Mohini Mill and Bara Bazar in Milpara area of ​​Kushtia Sadar. The distance of Tegor Lodge from Kushtia Sadar is only 3 km. You can come to Tegor Lodge by bus or train from Dhaka to Kushtia and take a rickshaw or autorickshaw.

If you want to go from Dhaka to Kushtia, you can go by bus or train. If you go by bus from Kalyanpur bus stand you can take New SB Super Deluxe, Shyamoli, Hanif bus to Kushtia and from there you can take rickshaw or auto rickshaw to Tegor Lodge. Bus fare non AC 600-700 taka, AC 1000-1200 taka.

If you want to go by train, you can go by Sundarban Express, Madhumati Express and Benapole Express trains. Sundarban Express leaves at 8:15 AM, Madhumati Express at 3 PM and Benapole Express at 11:45 PM from Kamalapur Railway Station. The price of the ticket is Tk 410 to Tk 943 depending on the seat of the train. By train you have to get down at Kushtia Court station. You can go to Tegor Lodge by autorickshaw or CNG from Kushtia city.

Kushtia town has several mid-range residential hotels at Majampur Gate, Shapla Chatwar, NS Road and Bara Bazar. Choose any one of your choice from Hotel Ajmeri, Pritam Hotel or Jubilee Hotel. And slightly better quality include Hotel River View, Hotel Noor International and Hotel Liberty.

Kushtia city has several good quality hotels and restaurants for dining. You can eat at Hotel Shafi in Court Station area. Besides, you can eat at Jahangir Hotel, Shilpi Hotel and Khawa-Dawa Hotel. And Kushtia's famous sesame khwaja and kulfi malai must be eaten.
