Mondu Mala village on Harin Mari border of Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district has an exceptional ancient mango tree which is of special interest among people to see. This 200-year-old mango tree, known as Surjapuri Mango Tree, is spread over an area of ​​about 2.5 bigha in the border area of ​​India . As a result, it is recognized as the largest mango tree in the Asian continent.
The Baliadangi Suryapuri mango tree is about 80-90 feet tall and has a girth of about 35 feet. 19 thick branches grow from 3 sides of the mango tree. From a distance, each branch of the tree looks like a mango tree. Although no one can give any information about when this famous mango tree was planted, it is believed that Baliadangi Suryapuri mango tree is more than 200 years old. Every day many visitors come to see this tree.
Present owners of Baliadangi Suryapuri mango tree are Noor Islam and Saidur Islam. Noor Islam's father's grandfather planted the tree. Every year the tree produces a large number of mangoes, each weighing about 200-250 grams. The mangoes of this tree are especially popular among the people of Thakurgaon, that's why the price of these mangoes is very high. A tin fence surrounds the tree for human interest and 15 people regularly maintain the tree. Baliadangi Suryapuri mango tree wanted to see up close had to pay 20 rupees per person.

If you want to see Suryapuri mango tree from Dhaka, you have to go to Thakurgaon first. Distance from Thakurgaon to Baliadangi Upazila is 25 km. And the distance from Baliadangi to Harinmari is another 10 km. You can go to Thakurgaon by bus like Karnaphuli, Hanif, Nabil, Kaya or Bablu from Dhaka. Besides, Thakurgaon can be reached by any train plying on Panchagarh route. The fare will be 800-1800 taka by bus and 650-2,237 taka by train. There is local bus service from Thakurgaon to Baliadangi. From Baliadangi you can visit Suryapuri mango tree located at Mondu Mala village of Harin Mari by local transport.
