Introduction to Jamalpur Zamindarbari Jame Mosque Thakurgaon

Jamalpur Union of Thakurgaon has the historical Jamalpur Zamindar Bari. Jamal Uddin, a descendant of Roshan Ali of the then Tajpur Pargana of West Bengal, India, got the zamindari of the area and laid the foundation of the zamindar house in 1862, but before the construction of the zamindar house was completed, he started the construction of a mosque along with the zamindar house in 1867. The name of the mosque is Jamalpur Zamindar Bari Jame Mosque (Jamalpur Zamindarbari Jame Mosque) and due to the cost of building this mosque, the construction of the Zamindar House remained unfinished.
There is a huge arch at the entrance of Jamalpur Zamindar's house, which is about 150 years old. About 300-600 worshipers can pray at Jamalpur Zamindar Bari Jame Masjid listed by Bangladesh Antiquities Directorate. The Jamalpur Jama Masjid is divided into four parts: the main hall, roofed and unroofed verandas and the main gate - eighty minarets with a height of 35 feet and three carved mandit domes attract the attention of incoming visitors. There are very few mosques in Bangladesh with a wonderful combination of domes and minarets. Currently, the descendants of the zamindar family are in charge of looking after the zamindar bari and Jamalpur Jame Masjid.
