Jogdol Rajbari Thakurgaon

Jogdol Rajbari is located at a place called Jagdol, about 8 km away from Nekmard of Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon district. It is believed that around the mid-nineteenth century, Jagdal prince Sri Virendra Kumar built this palace at the confluence of Nagar and Tiranai rivers. Today, nothing much remains except the ruins of the traditional palace and a temple located 100 meters away on the banks of the Nagar River. And the books from the personal library of educationist Shri Virendra Kumar were donated to the then Surendranath College (now Dinajpur Government College) in 1948.

From the capital Dhaka, you can go to Thakurgaon by Karnafuli Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Nabil Paribahan, Bablu Enterprise and Kaya Paribahan buses. AC/Non-AC buses will cost Tk 800-1800. If you want to go by train, you can come to Thakurgaon by Panchagarh Express, Ekta and Hirtyan Express trains from Dhaka's Kamalapur. According to the class, the train ticket fare ranges from Tk 650 to Tk 2237 per person.

From Thakurgaon district headquarter by bus or CNG, you can reach Nekmard of Ranishankail upazila and ride an easy bike or van to Jagdal Rajbari.

Thakurgaon town has residential hotels like Hotel Salam International, Hotel Prime International, Hotel Shah Jalal and Hotel Sadek on North Circular Road.

There is Mouchak restaurant in Ranishankoil and Arizul Hotel, Saha Alam Hotel on the way from Ranishankoil to Nekmard. Apart from this, Thakurgaon Sadar has several fine dining restaurants including Gausia, New Suruchi and Haji Biryani House.

Among the other places to visit in Thakurgaon are Baliadangi Suryapuri Mango Tree, Balia Mosque and Fun City.
