Shyam Sundar Temple Satkhira

Sonabaria Mathbari Temple located in Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira District is a traditional archaeological site of Bangladesh. Sonabaria Mathbari temple is located in Sonabaria village, 26 km from Satkhira and 7 km from Kalaroa. Also known as Sonabaria Math and Shyam Sundar Mandir to locals. According to history, Durgapriya Das built this Sonabaria Mathbari temple in 1767. Along with the three-story Navratma temple, there are Durga temples and Shiva temples. The inner part of the lower floor of this pyramid-shaped temple is divided into four parts. The first part consists of the atria, which revolve around it. The second part has a mandap. In the third part, the kotha and the chamber can be seen. To the east is a staircase leading up to an atrium. There is a large ratma in the center of the gradually upward facing dome on the roof of the temple, due to which Sonabaria Mathbari temple is known as Navratma temple.

There is legend, once Ramakrishna Paramahansa stayed in this Sonabaria Math for about two months. Therefore, this Sonabaria Mathbari temple has a special importance for Hindu devotees.
