Jura Shiv Mandir Satkhira

A pair of Shiv Mandirs are located on the banks of a large lake in Chigharia village of Jhowdanga Union, just 6 km from the district town of Satkhira . The pair of colorful terracotta brick-built Jora Shiv Mandirs are known to the people of the region as the Six Ghariya Jora Shiv Mandirs. Bangla 1220 year 1 Baishakh Fakir Chand Ghosh built two Shiva temples. The 15 feet 9 inch square temple is decorated with terracotta designs of flowers, vines, musicians, gods, goddesses, horsemen, etc. At present, the two Shiv Mandirs are in an abandoned state, but curious visitors flock to Shigharia to see the wonderful terracotta works.

There are AC and non-AC buses from Gabtali, Nabinagar, Shyamoli, Kalyanpur and Savar to Satkhira via Padma Bridge in Dhaka. Among them are SP Golden Line, AK Travels, Green Line, Mamun Enterprises, Eagle Transport, Sohag Transport, Saudia Transport, Satkhira Express and Shyamoli Transport. 650 to 1300 taka for all these bus tickets depending on the person. From Satkhira town, one can visit Chaixghariya Jora Shiv Mandir, which is 5 km from Satkhira town by bus, rickshaw and van.
