Rudrakar Moth Shariatpur

Rudrakar Math is a historical archaeological site located in Shariatpur district. Rudrakar, the only Math of Shariatpur district, is basically a temple. It is believed that during the reign of Nawab Alivardi Khan i.e. 1305 to 1315 Bengal, the then zamindar Babu Gurucharan Chakraborty built this temple to immortalize the samadhi of Maa Rashmani Devi. In 1898, this unique architectural style monastery was rebuilt.

The Rudrakar Mutt has a large Shashman temple, with the main shrine room along with 4 smaller shrines at the four corners of the verandah. The height of the main temple is about 20 meters and the other four smaller temples are 1.95 meters in height. The Rudrakar Mutt is adorned with 4 goddess idols. There is an ancient pond in front of the Rudrakar Math. It is believed that the monastery and the pond were built simultaneously. Pujas and kirtans are organized here every year.

Glory Express, Shariatpur Super Service, Hanif Enterprise, Sagarika Paribahan buses run from Dhaka Gabtali Bus Stand to Shariatpur via Padma Bridge. The bus fare will cost 400-500 taka depending on the standard.

The Rudrakar Zamindar house is located on the north side of the Rudrakar Union Parishad office along the Damudya-Shariatpur highway, 5 km from Shariatpur district town. Locally many people call it Babubari. Near the zamindar's house you will find the Rudrakar Math on the banks of a large pond.

Shariatpur district has not developed good quality housing system. Notable residential hotels include Noor Hotel, Chandradas Rest House, Hotel Sher Ali.

For food, you will find various quality Chinese and Bengali food hotels and restaurants in the district town. Utsav Chinese Restaurant, Hotel Janata, Chikandi Food Park, Chilekotha Cafe and Restaurant are notable among the hotels and restaurants located in Shariatpur city.
