Introduction to Marine Drive Road

Currently, the most interesting thing to visit Cox's Bazar is the world's longest Marine Drive Road . This 80 km long road starts from Kalatali in Cox's Bazar and extends to Teknaf. On one side of the Marine Drive road is the rugged beach and on the other side there are small hills covered with greenery. Here and there you can see a stream running down the hill. One can take in all the beauty of the vast ocean and enjoy the view of fishermen fishing in the sea while passing through the Marine Drive Road. Along with that, you will see the evergreen forest known as Teknaf Roaring Forest on the beach. Himchari and Inani beach can be reached by open jeep, microbus, CNG or autorickshaw from Kalatali or Sugandha point of Cox's Bazar through Marine Drive Road.

How to get to Marine Drive Road

To travel on Marine Drive Road you have to come to Cox's Bazar . Cox's Bazar can be reached from Dhaka in various ways. From Dhaka, Saudia, S. Alam Mercedes Benz, Green Line, Hanif Enterprise, Shyamoli Paribahan, Sohag Paribahan, S. Alam Paribahan, Modern Line etc. buses leave daily for Cox's Bazar. Depending on the class, the bus fares range from Tk 900 to Tk 2500 per seat.
If you want to travel directly to Cox's Bazar by train from Dhaka , you can take the Cox's Bazar Express or Tourist Express train from Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station . Also, if you want to come from Dhaka by train via Chittagong to Cox's Bazar, you can take Sonar Bangla, Suborn Express, Turna-Nishitha, Mahanagar Prabhati/Godhuli trains from Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station as per your convenience. Train fare will be Tk 405-1398 per seat. Then you can come to Cox's Bazar by S Alam, Hanif or Unique Paribahan bus from Chittagong's new bridge area, Alankar Mor, Cinema Palace or Dampara bus stand. Depending on the bus, the fare will be Tk 420 to Tk 1000.
Besides, Bangladesh Biman, NovoAir, US Bangla, Air Astra operate direct flights from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar. Besides, you can come to Chittagong by air and go to Cox's Bazar by road.

Cox's Bazar to Marine Drive Road

At Sugandha Point you will find open jeeps, microbuses, CNG and autos going to Marine Drive Road. Going around Marine Drive Road by CNG or Autorickshaw will take a lot of time. Hire an open jeep for day trip and return day. Car rental here depends on the season. 4000 rupees may be required to reserve a car in off season. And in the season it will take about 5000 rupees.
It will take around 5 hours to complete the Marine Drive Road tour. If you want to see the entire Marine Drive Road, please let the driver know this while fixing the car. If not, maybe a little neighborhood will bring it back. Or if you have little time, you can go to Himchari or Inani Beach and come back. In that case you can reserve autorickshaw/easybike or CNG.

Cox's Bazar has about five hundred hotels, motels or cottages. Among them are Mermaid Beach Resort, Simon Beach Resort, Ocean Paradise, Long Beach, Cox Today, Heritage, Sea Palace, Sea Gull, Coral Reef, Nitol Resort, Islandia, Beach View, Sea Crown, Uni Resort, Urmi Guest House, Coral Reef. , Ikra Beach Resort, Abhisar, Media Inn, Kallol, Honeymoon Resort, Neelima Resort to mention.
Even if you don't book a hotel in advance during the off season, you are guaranteed to get a room, but it is better to book in advance from December 15 to January 15. In the off season, hotel rates are usually less than half. If you have time, it is better to go down to Cox's Bazar and find a hotel. The further away the hotel is from the beach and main road, the cheaper the accommodation. Don't take the advice of rickshaw pullers or CNG pullers when looking for a hotel. where to eat

Various quality restaurants have sprung up at different places on Marine Drive Road. If you want, you can fill your stomach in one of these restaurants. Again, Cox's Bazar has all types and quality of restaurants. Mid-range budget restaurants include Rodela, Jhowban, Dhansindi, Paushi, Niribili etc. Like most things, food prices here can be lower/higher depending on the season.
It is good to know that there will be some checkpoints of Bangladesh Army on the way. Feel free to help there with necessary information. Keep the copy of National Identity Card with you to avoid trouble.
