Kollan Dhigi Rajbari

Kalyan Dhigi is located next to Rajdharpur village of Nawabpur union of Rajbari district . Today, the giant lake has been converted into a flat bill, but the size of the lake can be clearly understood. Dighi of such a large size with 16 acres of land is rare in this region. According to many, King Sitaram Kalyan Dighikalyan Dighi was dug in the 18th century. There is evidence that King Sitaram dug the Ram Sagar, Sukh Sagar and Krishna Sagar lakes. Folklore has it that King Sitaram had an army of 200 soldiers who used to dig water tanks to relieve people's water shortages except during times of war. It is also rumored that King Sitaram used to bathe in the newly dug water tank every day.

Many others think that Kalyan Dighi Khan was excavated by Jahan Ali. In 1459 AD, Khan Jahan Ali conquered the Jessore and Khulna regions and founded the Caliphate. Khan Jahan Ali dug numerous dighis as part of his philanthropic works. Khan Jahan Ali sent a group of missionaries to the North-East to spread the religion. And Kalyan Dighi is believed to have been dug by them.

From Dhaka's Gabtali to Rabeya, Hanif Enterprise, Rajbari Transport, Saptavarna, Saudia bus, crossing the Padma Bridge and going to Rajbari costs Tk 500 per person. Apart from this, Rajbari can be reached by Sundarban Express, Madhumati Express and Benapole Express trains from Dhaka Kamalapur railway station. Train fare will be 340 to 782 taka per seat. You can visit Kalyan Dighi from Rajbari by easybike or any local transport.
