Kella Shahid Mazar Brahmanbaria

Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Syed Ahmad (RA) in Kharampur of Akhaura Upazila of Brahmanbaria District is well known as Kella Shahid Mazar (Kella Shahid Mazar) throughout Bangladesh. It is said that fishermen of Kharampur area used to go fishing in Titus river at that time. Similarly, one day while fishing in the river, a broken head was caught in the net. Then Chaitan Das and the other fishermen who were with him started talking about the broken head miraculously when they wanted to lift the head out of fear. The head says that a believer and an atheist can never be the same. Do not touch my head until you recite the Kalima and become a Muslim. Hearing such words, the Hindu fishermen recited Kalema and became Muslims. And according to the instructions of Khandit Shir, he was buried in the Kharampur cemetery. Those converted fishermen are the original descendants of Kella Shaheed Mazar.

The then Maharaja of Agartala State donated 260 acres of land for the establishment of Dargah Sharif. According to many, Hazrat Syed Ahmad Geshudaraj was one of the 360 ​​disciples who arrived in Sylhet with Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA). Hazrat Syed Ahmad Geshudaraj was martyred in a battle with King Achak Narayan of Taraf kingdom and his dismembered head was washed away in the river. Thousands of devotees and visitors throng the premises of the Fort Shahid Shrine during the annual Ors and throughout the year.

The distance from Brahmanbaria town to Akhaura is about 23 km. You can go by bus or train from Dhaka. If you go by bus, you have to take local CNG from Kautli after reaching Brahmanbaria. But it is best to go directly to Akhaura railway station by train from Dhaka. The train ticket fare will be Tk 140 to Tk 575 per person depending on the class. Besides, you can reach Akhaura by taking any of the Chittagong-bound trains that stop at Akhaura.

Kella Shaheed Mazar, located at a distance of only 2.7 km from Akhaura, can be reached by local transport.

There are some decent residential hotels in Akhaura. Besides, if you want, you can come to Brahmanbaria and spend the night.

Akhaura has various quality food hotels and restaurants. The beef khichuri of Nine Star Hotel located in Akhaura Bazar is quite famous.
