Hason Raja Museum

Hasan Raja's house and museum should be visited in Sunamganj district, a town close to Surma river . Hassan Raja was born in 1854. From here Hasan Raja composed all his unique songs. Currently a museum has been built in this house which has made the house known as Hason Raja Museum. At the entrance of Hasan Raja's museum, the first thing that catches your eye is the picture of Lalon Shah. Then in 1962 the only photograph of Hasan Raja collected from a studio in Calcutta was seen. Although about 8-9 paintings by different artists are preserved in the museum. The Hasan Raja Museum comes alive with a collection of artifacts that embody the memory of Hassan Raja.

Since the organization of Hasan Fakir Fair in 1962, people started coming from all over the country to see the house and various items used by Hassan Raja. In 1974, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman donated 25,000 taka to 'Hasan Academy', in continuation of which Hasan Rajar Museum is now established.

The chairs and tables where Hassan Raja used to compose songs, Hassan Raja's colorful robes, which he used to read when meeting a king or an English gentleman. Water purifiers, swords, earthen pots etc. gifted by William Little in 1902.

The Hasan Raja Museum also has tea tables, milking and milking vessels, bowls, brass pitchers, pandani, wooden khams, old age sticks, candlesticks, copies of hand written songs, drums, mandira, cymbals and cash boxes used in zamindari work.

You can go to Sunamganj by bus of Ena Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Mamun Paribahan and Shyamoli Paribahan from Sayedabad in the capital Dhaka for a fare of Tk 650 to Tk 750. You can easily take a rickshaw from Sunamganj bus stand to see Hassan Raja's museum located next to Saheb Bazar Ghat.

In Sunamganj city, you can stay at different quality hotels for the rent of Tk 200 to Tk 1000. Notable hotels include Hotel Noor, Hotel Sarpinia, Hotel Noorani, Hotel Mizan, Hotel Palace and Surma Valley Residential Resort.

There is no particularly famous food restaurant in Sunamganj. A number of medium quality food hotels or restaurants can meet your food needs. Among them Pan Bhai, Five Star, Janata, Hotel Raj are notable.

Sunamganj district is geographically diverse. Apart from Hasan Raja Museum, popular tourist spots in Sunamganj district include Tanguar Haor , Shaheed Siraj Lake or Niladri Lake , Jadukata River , Barikka Tila and Shimul Bagan .
