Dhorla Bridge Kurigram

Bangladesh-India cross border river is named Dharla. A park has been developed by the Kurigram Water Development Board on the northwest bank of Dharla river . And on the south bank there is a huge field, which is known as Madan field. Dharla and Brahmaputra rivers join together near Kurigram. A bridge was constructed over Dharla River to connect Nageshwari and Bhurungamari upazilas with Kurigram. This bridge is known as Dhorla Bridge. A large number of visitors flock to the Dharla Bridge area to spend lively afternoons, boat trips or watch the sunset.

Apart from this, another bridge has been constructed over Dharla River in Kulaghat of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila and Ramprasad area of ​​Shimulbari Union of Phulbari. Which is known as Sheikh Hasina Dharla Setu or Second Dharla Setu. The construction of the second Dharla Bridge started in 2014 and was completed in June 2018. The 2nd Dharla bridge with a length of 950 m and a width of 9.80 m has a total of 19 spans. The length of the first Dharla Bridge is 648 meters.

If you want to go to Dharla Bridge, you have to come to Kurigram district first. Kurigram can be reached by buses like Nabil, Haque Special, Hanif, Tanjila and Ena from Asadgate, Kalyanpur and Gabtali in the capital Dhaka. AC/Non-AC buses will cost Tk 950-1400 per person. Again from Kamalapur railway station you can take Kurigram Express or Rangpur Express train directly from Dhaka to Kurigram. The ticket price of these trains is Tk 640-2,197 depending on the class. You can directly reach the bank of Dharla river by hiring an autorickshaw or rickshaw from Kurigram.

There are several good quality residential hotels in Kurigram. Among them Hotel Arnab Palace, Hotel DK and Hotel Mehdi are notable.

For food, you can choose Nanna Biryani or Asia Hotel located at Shapla Mor in Kurigram. Also, don't forget to have tea and chops at the Saju shop on the banks of the Dharlar river.
