Chandranath Hill

Chandranath Hill (Chandranath Hill) is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and the vast sea makes Sitakunda unique. Chandranath Pahar is located just 4 km east of Sitakunda Bazar. From Sitakunda Bazar you can walk or take a rickshaw to the lower gate of Chandranath Pahar. However, on the way to Chandranath Hill on foot, you can see several religious buildings of Hindus and pictures of the life of the inhabitants. Also, if you go a little deeper into the mountains, you will see the jumkhet and flower gardens cultivated for commercial purposes. Chandranath Temple is located at the top of Chandranath Hill .

A small spring is seen on the way to Chandranath Hill. From this spring the way up the mountain goes in two directions. The entire path on the right side is made of stairs to climb the hill and the path on the left side is completely hilly. It is generally easier to go up the hill and down the stairs. The height of Chandranath hill is 1152 feet. Walking is a bit of a chore, but how long it takes depends on your gait. It usually takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive if it is slow. Chandranath temple is situated on top of Chandranath hill. There are small thong shops in the middle distance of Chandranath Hill and near the top of the temple where light food and puja materials are available, but it is better to carry enough water and some dry food for the time of the climb. Every year on the occasion of Mahashivratri, a large number of Hindu devotees visit the Chandranath hill and temple on pilgrimage.

Chandranath Pahar is located in Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong District. So from where you want to see Chandranath Pahar you have to come to Sitakunda first. From Sitakunda, you can go to the foot of Chandranath Pahar for a CNG fare of Tk 70 per person.

Sitakund by bus from Dhaka : You can go to Sitakund by any bus from Syedabad, Fakirapool, Mohakhali bus stand in Dhaka to Chittagong. Non AC bus fare of S Alam, Shyamli, Saudia, Unique, Hanif, Eagle, Ena etc. is Tk 420-480. Among AC buses Greenline, Saudia, Sohag, TR these bus fares are 800-1100 Tk.

Dhaka to Sitakund by train : Any intercity train from Dhaka to Chittagong should get down at Feni station. Train fare is Tk 250-1035 per person depending on the class. From Feni station you have to go to Feni Mohipal bus stand by rickshaw/auto for Tk 20-25. From there you can go to Sitakund by local bus for Tk 50-80.

From Chittagong to Sitakund The fare from Chittagong to CNG or Autorickshaw Reserve to Sitakund will be Tk 350 to Tk 00. And if you want to go by bus, you have to go to Alankar, AK Khan Mor or Kadmatoli in Chittagong city. You can go to Sitakunda by local bus at a fare of 40-80 taka.

For accommodation in Sitakunda there are few mid-range residential hotels in Sitakunda market including Hotel Saudia, Saimun Residential. You can call Hotel Saudia on 01991-787979 , 01816-518119 for booking. Besides, there is a Dakbungalow under Tele-Communication. You can try to stay there with permission. If you want to stay in a good place, you can spend the night in a hotel in Chittagong Alankar Mor for 600-1500 taka. Apart from this, you can stay overnight at different quality residential hotels around Station Road, Newmarket, GEC intersection.

Typical hotels in Sitakunda include Saudia Restaurant, Apan Restaurant and Al Amin. But Al Amin has quite a reputation here for serving good food.
