Mohamaya Lake

Mohamaya Lake (Mohamaya Lake) located in Mirsrai , Chittagong is one of the artificial heart of Bangladesh. Mahamaya Lake is spread over an area of ​​11 square kilometers at the foot of the hill, just two kilometers away from Thakurdighi Bazar in Mirsarai's Durgapur Union. Besides the gurgling water of the lake and the mithali of the hills, there are mountain caves, rubber dams and endlessly beautiful springs. Apart from going around the lake by boat, you can soak your body and mind in the cool water of the spring coming down the hill. Mahamaya Lake has facilities for kayaking and overnight camping in tents if desired. Part of the water of Mahamaya Lake under the control of Bangladesh Water Development Board is used for irrigation in the surrounding areas.

Mahamaya Lake is located two kilometers east of Thakurdighi Bazaar in Mirsrai. So from any part of the country you want to come first you have to come to Thakurdighi market of Mirsarai Upazila of Chittagong district.

By bus from Dhaka : You can take any bus to Chittagong from any part of Dhaka to Thakurdighi Bazaar in Mirsrai. Non AC bus fare for S Alam, Shyamli, Saudia, Unique, Hanif, Eagle, Ena etc. is Tk 450-500. Among AC buses, Greenline, Saudia, Sohag, TR bus fare is 1000-1200 Tk. Take the bus of your choice and get down at Thakurdighi Bazar before Mirsarai. Besides, from Syedabad bus stand, take Feni (fare 320 taka) from Syedabad bus stand and take a local bus for 30-50 taka to go to Thakurdighi Bazar before Mirsarai. From Thakurdighi, you can go to the main gate of Mahamaya Ecopark for a CNG fare of Tk 20 per person. Or reserve CNG (Rent 80-150 Taka) and come to Mahamaya Eco Park. Mahamaya Lake is located inside this Eco Park.

By train from Dhaka : Any intercity train from Dhaka to Chittagong should get down at Feni station. Train fare is Tk 250-1035 per person depending on the class. From Feni station you have to go to Feni Mohipal bus stand by rickshaw/auto for Tk 10-15. From there you have to go down to Thakurdighi Bazar before Mirsarai by local bus for a fare of 30-40 taka. Or you can get down at “Chinki Astana” station by mail train for Tk 90-120. From there you can go to Thakurdighi by Auto/Laguna/CNG for Tk 20-25. From Thakurdighi, you can go to the main gate of Mahamaya Ecopark at a CNG fare of Tk 15-20 per person. Or reserve CNG (Rent 80-120 Taka) and come to Mahamaya Eco Park. Mahamaya Lake is located inside this Eco Park.

Buses, CNG, autorickshaws and microbuses to Mirsrai are available from Motherbari and Kadmatoli bus stops. Besides, you can come to Thakurdighi market directly from mother house in Chittagong city by Choice bus with a fare of 80 taka. Again, from Alankar City Gate of Chittagong city, you can go to Thakur Dighi of Mirsrai Police Station by taking some local buses for a fare of 40 to 60 taka. From Thakurdighi, you can go to the main gate of Mahamaya Ecopark at a CNG fare of Tk 15-20 per person. Or reserve CNG (Rent 80-150 Taka) and come to Mahamaya Eco Park. Mahamaya Lake is located inside this Eco Park.

You can come from Sylhet by bus or train. Any bus going to Chittagong should get off at Thakurdighi Bazar before Mirsarai. If you want to come by train, you have to take the intercity train Paharika Express and Udayan Express or the mail train Jalalabad Express and get down to Feni station. From Feni station you have to go to Feni Mohipal bus stand by rickshaw/auto for Tk 20-25. From there, take a local bus for Tk 30-50 and get down to Thakurdighi Bazar before Mirsarai. Or you can get down at “Chinki Astana” station by mail train for Tk 100-150. From there you can go to Thakurdighi by Auto/Laguna/CNG at a fare of Tk 20-25. From Thakurdighi, you can go to the main gate of Mahamaya Ecopark for a CNG fare of Tk 15-20 per person. Or reserve CNG (rent 100-120 taka) and come to Mahamaya Eco Park. Mahamaya Lake is located inside this Eco Park.

You can go kayaking in the lake. Two people can sit in one kayak. Kayaking fee is Tk 300 per hour, Tk 200 for 30 minutes. If you are a student, you will get a discount, in which case you will have to pay 200 taka for one hour and 150 taka for 30 minutes. Kayaking can be done anytime from 9 am to 5:30 pm. There are engine boats to explore the lake. A boat capable of carrying 8-10 people will tour for an hour with fountains in the vicinity and the fare is Tk 800-1000. Renting an engine boat that can carry 15-20 people will cost Tk 1,200-1,500 for an hour.

There is no food service in the park. You have to bring your own food. There are small hotels in Thakurdighi market where you can eat local food. If you go to Mirsarai and Sitakunda market, you will find some more quality food hotels from where you can eat. Al Amin Hotel has a good reputation in front of the municipality of Sitakund.

There is no better residential hotel than staying in Mirsarai. If you want to stay, there are some standard hotels in Sitakunda near Mirsrai. You can get different quality rooms at Hotel Saudia for 600 to 1600 taka and you can stay at Saimun and other residential hotels for 300 to 700 taka. It will take about 1 hour 30 minutes to go from Mirsarai to Chittagong. You will find hotels of good quality at Anglakar Junction. Or there are different quality hotels in Station Road area of ​​Chittagong Newmarket, you can spend the night in any hotel of your choice.
