Carew And Co Chuadanga

In 1938, Keru & Co., one of the largest sugar mills in the Asian continent, was established in Chuadanga district on about 300 bighas of land. In 1972, the Government of Bangladesh declared Keru & Co. as a state-owned enterprise. Besides sugar, the nearly 80-year-old Keru & Co. manufactures domestic and foreign liquors. Besides, a distillery and pharmaceutical unit is being operated under Keru & Co. Carew & Co Bangladesh Ltd is the only one of the remaining sugar mills in Bangladesh today that has not faced any losses. Permission is required to visit this establishment located in Darshan, and to enter the distillery section, permission must be obtained directly from the MD. A picnic spot and guest house have been constructed here to facilitate recreation.

From Gabtali and Kalyanpur in Dhaka, Royal, Purbasha, JR Paribahan, Chuadanga Deluxe, Tourist Paribahan and Anand Paribahan etc. buses ply to Chuadanga. Bus fare per person from Dhaka to Chuadanga is Tk 650-1000.

Besides, one can go to Chuadanga by taking Chitra, Sundarban Express and Benapole Express trains bound for Khulna from Dhaka's Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station. Dhaka to Chuadanga train ticket price per person varies from Tk 465 to Tk 1,593 depending on the class.

From Chuadanga city you can go to Darshana bus stand by bus or CNG and from there you can go to Darshana Keru & Co. by auto or bird van.

Chuadanga is actually a must try 'Kalipad's Sweets' located next to the railway gate of Chuadanga town. Besides, the chamcham, curd, rasgolla here are also wonderful to eat.
