Atkobor/Atkabar , located in Jagannathpur of Chuadanga district , is a historical place that commemorates the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War. The distance from Chuadanga to eight burial sites is about 30 km. On August 3, 1971, a group of freedom fighters under the leadership of Commander Hafizur Rahman Joardar occupied the Jaipur shelter camp of Damurhuda in Chuadanga. In the morning, the agent of Pakistan Muslim League, Qubad Khan, as per his plan, sent word to the camp of the freedom fighters that the Rajakars had cut the ripe paddy of Natuda, Jagannathpur and its surrounding lands. Hearing such news on August 5, some freedom fighters led by Commander Hasan rushed to Bagwan village, about two kilometers away. The Pakistani soldiers of Natuda camp, who were waiting for an opportunity there, surrounded the freedom fighters from all sides. Then eight brave freedom fighters were martyred in the battle against the Pakistani soldiers with the freedom fighters. After that, the Rajakars on the instructions of the Pak forces buried the bodies of the freedom fighters in two pits. This burial ground of the liberation war is known as eight graves to the local people.
Eight grave complexes were built in 1998 on 0.66 acres of land. The eight grave complex apart from the freedom fighters' mausoleum also has a library, Muktamanch and a two-storied building. The continuous history of Bangladesh's independence movement has been depicted through about 200 photographs on the walls of the two-storied building. And anyone who wants to do research on the liberation war can also take the residential benefits of staying here.
