Wherever you live in the country, you must first come to Sylhet district city to go to Bichnakandi. Then you have to go to Bichnakandi from Sylhet.
Ways to go from Dhaka to Sylhet
You can go to Sylhet by bus, train or plane from Dhaka. Green Line, Shyamli, Saudia, S Alam and Ena Transport AC buses ply from Fakirapool, Syedabad and Mohakhali bus stations. Ticket price per person by bus is 1400 to 1500 Tk. Non-AC bus ticket price is 680 to 700 taka per person.
From Dhaka to Sylhet by train you can choose Upaban, Jayantika, Parabat or Kalni Express trains from Kamalapur or Biman Bandar railway station as your travel companion. It will take 6 and a half to 7 hours to go by train.
You can choose the air route to go from Dhaka in the fastest time and comfortably. Flights of Biman Bangladesh, Novo Air, Air Astra and US Bangla Air leave for Sylhet from Shahjalal International Airport. Ticket price from Dhaka to Sylhet is Tk 3,500 to Tk 10,000 depending on the class.
Ways to go from Chittagong to Sylhet
From Chittagong you can go to Sylhet by bus or train. If you want to go by train from Chittagong, two trains named Paharika and Udayan Express run 6 days a week.
To go to Bichnakandi from the CNG station of Ambarkhana in Sylhet, you have to take a local CNG for 140 to 160 taka per person and go to a place called Hadarpar. If you take CNG reserve for the whole day, the fare will usually be around Tk 1000-1500. You can go to the main point of Bichnakandi by fixing the boat from Hadarpar. If you are visiting Bichnakandi during monsoon you can hire a boat together for Bishnakandi and Panthumai and talk to the boatman accordingly. Only to go to Bichnakandi, boat rental will cost 800-1500 taka. And boat rental with panthumai will cost 1500 to 2000 taka. And of course, arrange the boat rental by paying the price. Renting a big trawler can cost up to Rs 2,500 in some cases. During winter and before monsoon, when the water in the river is low, you can go to Bichnakandi by walking or riding a bike from Hadarpar. Motorbike rental is 50 to 60 taka per person.
