Birshrestho Ruhul Amin Memorial Museum Noakhali

Md. Ruhul Amin is one of the seven martyrs of the Great Liberation War of 1971. On July 20, 2008, Birshrestho Ruhul Amin Memorial Museum was built on Ruhul Amin's ancestral land in Bagpachra village (present day Ruhul Amin Nagar) of Sadar Deoti Union of Sonaimuri Upazila, 25 kilometers away from Noakhali district headquarters . Equipped with modern facilities, the memorial museum has a well-equipped library, offices and reception rooms.

Bir Shrestha Md. Ruhul Amin was born on February 1, 1934 in Bagpachra village of Deoti Union No. 9 of Sonaimuri Upazila of Noakhali. Ruhul Amin's father's name is Azahar Patwari and mother's name is Julekha Khatun. He started his education from Bagpachra Primary School and passed his matriculation from Amishapara Farmers High School in 1949.

Md. Ruhul Amin started his career in Bangladesh Navy. He was awarded the highest military title of Bangladesh in recognition of his sacrifice in the 1971 Liberation War. Bangladesh Navy's warship BNS Ruhul Amin has been named after Bir Shrestha Shaheed Md Ruhul Amin.

From Noakhali District Headquarters (Maijdi) you can reach Sonaimuri by bus or CNG and take a rickshaw or easy bike to Bir Shrestha Shaheed Md. Ruhul Amin Library and Memorial located 8 km west.

From Dhaka to Maijdi in Noakhali by Bus From Dhaka Syedabad Bus Terminal, Ekushey Express, Moonline Enterprise, Himachal Express buses can go to Maijdi in Noakhali. Ekushey Paribahan bus leaves for Noakhali from Dhanmondi Jigatla counter at 10:20 PM. The non-AC and AC coach fares of these buses range from Tk 500 to Tk 550.

By train from Dhaka to Maijdi in Noakhali From Dhaka by train, get off at Maijdi station in Noakhali. An intercity train named Upkul Express departs for Noakhali from Kamalapur in Dhaka at 3:10 PM on 6 days of the week except Tuesday, it takes about 6 hours to reach Maijdi.
