Bangabandhu Boat Museum Barguna

Bangabandhu Boat Museum Barguna is a unique attraction in Barguna city. In this riverine country, the history of rivers and boats is thousands of years old. The boat is intimately connected with Bangabandhu, liberation war, language movement and the history of Bangladesh. The museum was built on December 31, 2020 on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

This initiative of the Barguna district administration is to attract tourists to Barguna along with preserving the portraits and information of boats of different regions and currently existing boats in this museum.

The main building of the museum is designed in the shape of a boat with a length of 165 feet and a width of 30 feet. The museum has over 100 types of boats from various regions of Bangladesh, extinct and common, such as Dingi, Ekmalai, Pansi, Gayna, Keraya, Kosha, Konda, Ghasi, Sampan, Lambapadi, Kathami or Export, Bachari, Patam, Sampan, Baich boat etc. Boat replicas, history and unknown facts. Along with this, there is a boat research center, library, Bangabandhu and Muktijudha corner, various rides for children's entertainment, 3D theater, eateries etc.

Bangabandhu Boat Museum costs Tk 10 for students and Tk 20 for general visitors. There is a ticket counter at the entrance of the museum. The museum is open daily from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Bangabandhu Boat Museum can be reached by local transport from any part of the city in Barguna.
