Introduction to Taka Museum Dhaka

Bangladesh Bank established the country's first Taka Museum on October 5, 2013 with the aim of preserving the history of the past and present currency of Bangladesh and the world, presenting the tradition and development of currency to everyone. Taka Museum is located on the 2nd floor of Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in Sector Two, Mirpur, Capital Dhaka. The walls of the money museum are lined with a diverse collection of money decorated with colorful designs. In this museum you can see almost all types of coins in use in the region from ancient times to the present day. Besides, digital kiosk, digital signage, LED TV, 3D TV, photo kiosk, projector and souvenir shop have been placed in this museum.
Divided into two galleries, the first section of the museum houses coins from different periods of the subcontinent. The second gallery has a collection of coins from different countries. Coins of the Gupta era and post-Gupta era, silver coins common in Harikela state and coins from different eras including coins from ancient times are displayed through a diorama at the end of the first gallery.
In the second gallery, about 3 thousand old coins of about 120 countries of the world have been collected. And this process is still ongoing. Along with the coins, the money museum exhibits ancient coin ornaments, wooden boxes for storing coins, iron banks, iron chests etc. If you want, you can get your photo printed on a non-exchangeable commemorative note of one lakh rupees for 50 rupees in this museum. Money There is no money to enter the museum.

Money Museum Visit Schedule

Taka Museum is open for visitors daily from 11 am to 5 pm. Only on Fridays the museum is open from 4 pm to 7 pm. Money Museum is closed every Thursday and other public holidays.

how to go

From anywhere in the capital Dhaka , you can reach the money museum located on the second floor of the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy near the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium by rickshaw or foot in Mirpur Sector 2.
