Syed Nazrul Islam Setu Kishoreganj

Sayed Nazrul Islam Bridge is a beautiful bridge built on Meghna river for free communication between Bhairab and Ashuganj by road . The construction of the bridge started in 1999 and was completed in 2002. Located on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, this bridge is 1.2 km long and 19.60 m wide and has 7 110 m spans and 2 79.5 m spans. The former name of Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge was Bangladesh-UK Friendship Bridge, which was changed in 2010. Although the bridge is better known as Bhairav ​​Bridge to locals. Standing on the bridge, one can observe the beauty of the Meghna river and witness the busyness of various boats and fishermen.

Right next to the Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge or Bhairab Bridge is the King George VI Rail Bridge built in 1937, also known as Habildar Abdul Halim Rail Bridge. Currently another new railway bridge has been constructed next to the George railway bridge. Every day a large number of visitors come to the Meghna River below the Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge. The river bank is therefore decorated with various natural materials. As a result, Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge has become a very popular place to spend time in the open air in the natural environment. Also, the bridge is best seen from the river bank in the evening when all the lights on the bridge are lit up.

You can ride a rickshaw from Durjoy Junction of Bhairab Upazila Sadar of Kishoreganj District to Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge and Raja George 6th Rail Bridge or Meghna Rail Bridge.

Dhaka to Bhairab: You can board a bus bound for Sylhet and Kishoreganj from the capital Dhaka and get off directly at Durjoy intersection in Bhairab. But it is more convenient to come to Bhairab from Dhaka by train. Bhairab can be easily reached by trains running on Chittagong, Sylhet and Kishoreganj routes from Dhaka. Then you can go to Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge by hiring a rickshaw from Bhairav ​​Railway Station.
