Introduction to Songrampunji Waterfall Sylhet

The local name of Sangrampunji Jharna is Mayabi Jharna. It takes only 15 to 20 minutes from Jaflong Zero Point to reach Mayavi Jharna on the Indian border. Bangladeshis can visit Songrampunji Waterfall under the guard of BSF. The water of the spring has accumulated down the mountain and has formed like a pond. This fountain has total three steps. Sangrampunji Jharna is the ideal adventure spot for travel freaks. The third stage of the fountain has a tunnel, and the end of the tunnel is still unknown. That is, the best time to visit the magical fountain is during the rainy season and the following months.

How to go to Sangrampunji Jharna?

You have to come to Jaflong in tea country Sylhet to see the Sangrampunji fountain. Sylhet can be reached from different parts of the country in various ways. And from Dhaka you can reach Sylhet by bus, train or air.
AC/Non-AC buses of Sylhet-bound Green Line, Saudia, S Alam, Shyamli, Unique, Hanif and Ena Paribahan ply from Dhaka to Sylhet from Dhaka's Fakirapool, Gabtali, Sayedabad and Mohakhali bus terminals. AC bus ticket price is 1400 to 1500 taka per person depending on the standard. And non-AC bus fare is 680 to 700 taka. Buses to Sylhet are available at all times in the morning, afternoon and night. The distance from Dhaka to Sylhet is 235 km, it takes 6-7 hours to reach Sylhet.
You can travel by Upban, Jayantika, Parabat or Kalni Express train from Dhaka's Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station. Train ticket price per person depending on the class is 375 to 1288 taka. It takes 7-8 hours to go to Sylhet by train.
You can choose Aakash Path to go to Sylhet quickly and easily from Dhaka. From Shahjalal International Airport, flights of Biman Bangladesh, Novo Air and US Bangla and Air Astra depart for Sylhet daily. According to the class, the ticket price per person is Tk 3,500-10,000.
Chittagong to Sylhet Chittagong to Sylhet Green Line, Ena, Saudia and many other buses go to Sylhet. AC and non AC bus fare is Tk 900-1600. You can also go to Sylhet from Chittagong by train, two trains named Paharika and Udayan Express run 6 days a week. The train fare is Tk 450 to Tk 1541 according to the class.
From Sylhet to Jaflong Jaflong can be reached by almost all types of vehicles from Sylhet. To go by local bus you have to go to Shivganj city from there the fare is 80 taka per person. You can go to Jaflong by CNG or autorickshaw for 1200 to 2000 taka. If you reserve the microbus to and fro, you will need 3000 to 5000 taka for the whole day. Jaflong can be done from any autorickshaw or CNG stand in Sylhet city. If you go in a group, it is better to reserve a microbus, then you can get down and explore other places around. Before fixing the car, bargain well and discuss with the driver what you want to see.
From Jaflong to Sangrampunji Jharna From Jaflong zero point to Mayavi Jharna you have to take a boat across the river and walk for 10 minutes. During the monsoon season, you can go very close to the waterfall by boat. It will take 10-20 taka per person to cross the river by boat in winter. To go to the fountain in monsoons, the boat rental will be Tk 30-50 per person.

If you need to stay overnight, it is better to stay in Sylhet city. It is convenient to go to other destinations from Sylhet. Most of the hotels are located around the vicinity of Shah Jalal Mazar. From Dargah Gate to Ambarkhana, Taltala, Lamabazar, Kadmatoli there are various quality residential hotels. If you want to stay at low cost, you will find many hotels of 500-1000 taka in Darga Gate area.
And if you have to stay at Jaflong then there are some other rest houses including Jaflong Inn Hotel and Hotel Paris in Mamar Bazaar area. Prior permission is required to stay in government rest houses. Also contact Jaintia Hill Resort near Jaflong with beautiful landscape view.

Among the restaurants located in Jaflong are Jaflong View Restaurant, Border View Restaurant and Jaflong Tourist Restaurant. If you want to eat in the city of Sylhet, you can eat your favorite food at a cheap price at Pansi, Panch Bhai or Palki restaurants located in Zindabazar area.
