The sound of thousands of monkeys flapping their wings in the darkness of the 100-150 feet high steep rocky walls on both sides of Baduizzakum creates a ghostly atmosphere. And when you reach the end of the 28 km trail, the magnificent Sonaichari Jharna will wash away all the fatigue in no time. However, if you want to go to this Sonaichari trekking trail, you should go in a group and having previous experience of trekking will be beneficial. There is a risk of flash floods during monsoons. So caution should be followed while visiting during monsoons.

From Syedabad, Fakirapool and Mohakhali bus stand of the capital Dhaka, you can take S Alam, Shyamoli, Saudia, Unique, Hanif, Eagle, Ena, Sohag etc. buses to reach Hadi Fakirhat Bazar. Bus fare from Dhaka to Chittagong Hadi Fakirhat Bazar will be Tk 460 to 1200 per person. Then walk or take CNG from Hadi Fakirhat Jame Masjid to reach the starting point of the trail. It takes four to five hours to reach the end of Sonaichari trail from Bara Pathar.

A day trip usually does not require an overnight stay here. For night stay there are some modest residential hotels in Mirsarai and Sitakunda. Hotel Saudia, Saimun Hotel located in Sitakunda Bazaar is one of them. If you want to live somewhere better, you have to move to Chittagong. You can stay overnight at various quality residential hotels at Alankar Mor, Station Road, Newmarket and GEC Mor in Chittagong.

All the things to keep in the backpack for trekking - necessary dry food, extra clothes, cap, towel, good grip shoes, half pant/three quarter, water bottle, first aid and necessary medicine etc.
