Butterfly Park Chittagong

The country's first Butterfly Park (Butterfly Park Bangladesh) has been built on road number 15 of Patenga Naval Academy adjacent to Shah Amanat Airport and Patenga Beach in Chittagong district covering an area of ​​about 6 acres. Although established in 2009, Prajapati Park officially launched in October 2012. There are more than 1000 butterflies of about 200 species in this park. Besides, artificial reproduction is done here through experts. March to August/September is the normal breeding season for butterflies.

A picture of giant butterflies in front of the Butterfly Park gives an idea of ​​the park's diversity. After the entrance to the park, there is an artificial fountain and a butterfly zone. There are many colorful butterflies and the Butterfly Museum is located just ahead of the Butterfly Zone. Here different types of butterflies from home and abroad are specially arranged for display. In front of the butterfly museum there are some interesting rides for children to play. And there is facility of sampan boat trip in the reservoir of the park. Prajapati Udyan has good facilities for organizing banquets, besides, there are conference rooms for various kinds of events. There are also modern rest house and restaurant facilities.

When to go butterfly watching : Butterflies prefer sunny days. 9 am to 4 pm is the best time to see butterflies. In the afternoon or when the weather is cloudy, butterflies usually stay behind the bushes.

The Butterfly Park is open seven days a week from 9 am to 7 pm. And the park restaurant is open daily from 10 am to 11 pm.

Butterfly Park entry ticket price is Tk 100 (per person) for adult Bangladeshi citizens, Tk 50 (per person) for children. Besides, the entry ticket price for SAARC nationals and other foreign tourists is Tk 150 and Tk 200 respectively (per person).

Prajapati Park Resort Standard category rooms are priced at Tk 4,025 (per night), Super Deluxe category rooms are priced at Tk 4,600 (per night), Prajapati Suites are priced at Tk 6,900 (per night). 10% service charge and 15% VAT are applicable on the room rental price.

Price of various rides in Prajapati Park: Train ride 100 taka, boat ride 50 taka, rock crawl 50 taka, horse ride 60 taka.

If you want to visit Prajapati Park, you have to come to Chittagong first. From Chittagong, you can go to Prajapati Park adjacent to Patenga beach in different ways. You can go from Dhaka to Chittagong by bus, train or plane. From Dhaka's Syedabad Bus Terminal Saudia, Unique, TR Travels, Greenline, Hanif, Shyamoli, Sohag, S. AC/Non-AC buses of various transports like Alam, Modern Line etc leave for Chittagong. The fare of bus ticket is 650 to 1700 taka depending on the class.

If you want to travel to Chittagong by train from Dhaka, you can travel by Sonar Bangla, Suborn Express, Turna-Nishitha, Mahanagar Prabhati/Godhuli, Chittagong Mail from Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station. Chittagong to Prajapati Park : Prajapati Park is located about 18 km south of Chittagong Zero Point. You can go to Patenga by own car, CNG or local bus. It takes about an hour to go to Prajapati Park from Chittagong city. CNG fare will be Tk 280-320. Patenga-bound local buses are available from various places in Chittagong, including the city's Newmarket, Railway Station Road, Bahaddarhat, Lalkhan Bazar Mor, GEC Mor and Chawk Bazar Mor.
