Shoshi Lodge

Shoshi Lodge ( Shoshi Lodge ) is a palace located in the district headquarters of Mymensingh. In the 19th century, Maharaja Suryakant Acharya Chowdhury, the zamindar of Muktagacha, built Drishtinandan Palace. Maharaj Suryakant named the palace Shashi Lodge after his adopted son Shashikant Acharya Chowdhury. Locally also known as Mymensingh Rajbari. When the building was damaged in the 1897 earthquake, Shashikant Acharya Chowdhury rebuilt it. There are 16 domes at the main gate of the Shashi Lodge building built on 9 acres of land.

Shashi Lodge has a beautiful garden in front of the main building. A marble statue of the Greek goddess Venus is placed in the middle of the garden with a white stone fountain. Behind the main building of 18 large rooms are two-storied baths, ponds and marble ghats. When the Women Teachers Training College was established at Shashi Lodge in 1952, the main building of the house was used as the principal's office and office. On 4 April 2015, Shashi Lodge was acquired by the Directorate of Archeology of the Government of Bangladesh to set up a museum.

From Dhaka you can go to Mymensingh by Ena, Alam Asia, Shamim Enterprise, Shoukhin or Safe Transport bus for a fare of Tk 320. It takes two and a half to three hours to travel from Dhaka to Mymensingh. You can get down at Masakanda bus stand and take an auto or rickshaw to visit Shashi Lodge. Rickshaw will charge 30-40 Tk.

If you want to travel to Mymensingh by train from Dhaka, you can directly board any of these trains: Teesta Express (7:30 AM), Mohanganj Express (01:15 PM), Jamuna Express (04:45 PM), Brahmaputra (06:15 PM) and Haor Express (10:15 PM). You can go to Mymensingh. Class wise fare is 120 to 501 taka. It will take 3 to 4 hours to go. You can go to Shashi Lodge by renting a rickshaw of Tk 20-25 from the railway station.
