Shamsher Gazi Pond Feni

Shamsher Gazi Pond is located in Champaknagar, 24 km away from Feni district. During the reign of Nawab Sirajdaulla, Shamser Ghazi, known as the Tiger of Bhanti, was the king of Tripura, an anti-British revolutionary leader and the hero of the peasant revolt of Roshanabad Pargana, Tripura. To provide drinking water to the people living in the area at that time, he dug several lakes, one of which is Shamser Ghazir Lake, which has a beautiful natural environment.

Shamser Gazi was born in Chagalnaya upazila of Feni district. Paternal Shamser Gazi grew up with Jagannath Sen, talukdar of Shubapur, and after his death Shamser Gazi took over the revenue collection of Shubapur. He raised a strong Lathial force to stop thieves and pirates and started philanthropic works aimed at the development of the people of his region. This popular leader died in 1757 while resisting the attack against the British forces. Today, the area bordering India is known as the memorial site of Shamser Gazi. Apart from Dighi, there are several historical structures including Shamsher Gazi's tunnel.

Feni can be reached by Shyamoli, Unique, Sohag, Green Line, S Alam, Kaya, Saudia etc. buses from Dhaka. Apart from this, you can go to Feni by Mahanagar Godhuli and Turna Express trains from Kamalapur railway station. From Parashuram Upazila of Feni, Shamser Gazi Dighi can be reached through hospital junction.
