Shalbari Mosque And Imambara Thakurgaon

The historical Shalbari Mosque is located near Voularhat, 20 km west of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. According to the inscriptions found in Shalbari Mosque, this mosque was built in 1215 Banga. The later renovations resulted in major changes in the original design of the mosque. There is a dilapidated Imambara at a distance from Shalbari Mosque. Shalbari Mosque and Imambara are considered to be contemporary. The exterior of the Imambara is 19 feet 6 inches long and 13 feet wide. Besides, there are 4 doors each on the east and west walls and 1 door each on the north and south. Different types of religious events are organized in Imambara.

Thakurgaon can be reached by road and rail from Dhaka. Karnaphuli Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Nabil Paribahan, Bablu Enterprise and Kaya Paribahan etc. can go from Dhaka to Thakurgaon by bus. AC/Non-AC buses will cost Tk 800-1800. If you want to go by train, you can come to Thakurgaon by Panchagarh Express, Ekta and Hirtyan Express trains from Dhaka's Kamalapur. According to the class, the train ticket fare ranges from Tk 650 to Tk 2237 per person. Shalbari Mosque located near Voularhat can be reached by autorickshaw or CNG from Thakurgaon district town.
