Ramgopalpur Zamidar Bari

Shaurindra Kishore Roy Chowdhury was born in 1293 Bengal, son of Ramgopalpur zamindar Yogendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury. Shaurindra Kishore Roy Chowdhury gained fame by writing a book called 'Barendrabahman Zamindar' on the history of zamindars in Gouripur and nearby areas. It is believed that the Ramgopalpur Zamidar Bari was built in the 1850s. However, no specific information is available about the original founder of the Ramgopalpur zamindar dynasty. Although the zamindari age of Gouripur is almost one and a half hundred years, most of the zamindars of Gouripur left the country during the partition of the country in 1947. As a result, the tradition of the Ramgopalpur zamindar house is also on the way to extinction due to lack of care due to the evolution of time.

The once-luxurious Ramgopalpur zamindar's zoo, garden house, rangam, sea pond, elaborate pond ghat and 3-storied toran are now just memories. Nothing remains except the two entrances of the zamindar's house, the ruined walls and the temple. Various pujas are still held in the temple of the zamindar's house.

To go to Ramgopalpur zamindar house from Dhaka, you must first come to Mymensingh district city by bus or train. From Mymensingh take bus or CNG to Kishoreganj road and come to Ramgopalpur Bazar and ask any local person who will show you the way to Ramgopalpur Zamindar's house.

From Dhaka you can go to Mymensingh by Ena, Alam Asia, Shamim Enterprise, Shoukhin or Safe Transport bus for a fare of Tk 320. It takes two and a half to three hours to travel from Dhaka to Mymensingh.

If you want to travel to Mymensingh by train from Dhaka, you can directly board any of these trains: Teesta Express (7:30 AM), Mohanganj Express (01:15 PM), Jamuna Express (04:45 PM), Brahmaputra (06:15 PM) and Haor Express (10:15 PM). You can go to Mymensingh. Class wise fare is 120 to 501 taka. It will take 3 to 4 hours to go.
