Introduction to Muppochora Waterfall Rangamati

Muppochora Jhorna is one of the largest springs in Bangladesh in terms of width. If you want to see the beautiful Muppochhara waterfall, you have to go to Bangalkata in Bilaichhari upazila of Rangamati district. There is no road connection with this upazila of Kaptai Lake. Kaptai upazila can be reached only by boat. Being a remote mountainous area, there are many springs in numerous small and big hills. Chakma word Bilai means cat and Chari means spring flowing from the mountain. Muppochhara Jharna is one of the biggest springs located in Bilaichari. From Bilaichari, Bangalkata can be reached only by boat, but from Bangalkata one has to trek to Muppochhara Jharna.

Way to Muppochhara Jharna

You can come directly to Kaptai by bus from Dhaka . Trawlers to Bilaichari are available from the launch ghat at Kaptai. 1000 to 1500 will be required if you reserve the trawler. And if you go locally, it will cost 60 to 70 taka per person. The first trawler left Kaptai at 8:30 am followed by two local trawlers at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm for Bilaichari. It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to travel from Kaptai to Bilaichari by trawler. On the way eat necessary food in Bilaichari bazaar and take some more dry food with you. Another trawler should be taken in reserve from Hospital Ghat in Bilaichari to go to Bangalkata. 600-800 rupees will be required from Bilaichari to Bangalkata. After 30 to 40 minutes, get down at Bangalkata, hire a guide for 300 to 500 taka and go out on the way to Muppochhara. After about two and a half to three hours of trekking, you will reach at the foot of the enchanting Muppochhara Jharna.

Accommodation

There is an accommodation facility called Niribili Boarding near Hospital Ghat in Bilaichari. Here the rent of single and double bed is 300 and 500 taka respectively. Contact: Sanjay Talukder – 01553-128673/01827-722905. And if you don't want to stay at Bilaichhari, then definitely leave Kaptai before 6 am for Muppochhara Jharna.

You can meet your food needs at Bakul's shop in Bilaichari. Besides, you will find many hotels and restaurants for food in Kaptai.

advice

As it is a hilly region, it is mandatory to carry national identity card/photocopy of passport/any identity document for entry here from other parts of Bangladesh. You must show an identity card at the Bangladesh Army camp.
