Introduction to Monument Of Mohiuddin Jahangir

Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir, one of the seven great warriors, is lying in eternal sleep in the premises of Chota Sona Mosque in Shahbazpur Union of Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj District. Born in Rahmatganj village of Barisal, this brave son of Bengal was martyred by enemy bullets in 1971 while destroying the enemy's defense system near Mahananda river. Jahangir Gate, the main gate of Dhaka Cantonment, has been named in honor of this great hero.
In 1971, at the height of brutal destruction and brutal torture by the invading forces, Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir entered Bangladesh from the Sialkot border through India, avoiding the sight of the hill border guards. At that time, he was working as the captain of Mukti Bahini in Sector 7 of Chapainawabganj border area of Rajshahi district under the instructions of the independent Bangladesh Army. With his brilliant attacks, the impenetrable bases of the enemy's invading forces fell one after another. On December 12, 1971, Mukti Bahini attacked Chapainawabganj district under his leadership. On the morning of December 14, Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir crossed the Mahananda river and started advancing with the aim of wiping out the enemy's impregnable base. While wiping out one enemy base after another with immense bravery, suddenly a sniper bullet of the Pakistani forces hit him in the body. The frozen body of Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir remains motionless. The body of this brave warrior who was martyred on December 15 was recovered by his comrades and brought to the historic Sona Masjid premises and according to his last wish he was buried with honor in the Sona Masjid premises. Later independent Bangladesh awarded him the title of Birshrestha for his outstanding contribution.
