Naoda Buruz Chapainawabganj

Naoda Buruz, rich in ancient history, is located in Rahanpur of Gomstapur upazila, 28 kilometers away from Chapainawabganj . From a distance, Naoda Burj looks like a high earthen mound, known locally as Shaurburuz. However, the real name of this building is Shahurooz. The word Shah means king and the word Buruj means building. Being close to the historic Nadia region, this establishment came to be known as Naoda.

Rahanpur gained popularity as a commercial city during the reign of Raja Laxman Sen. For commercial reasons, Laxman Sen built numerous structures including beautiful buildings in Rahanpur. Therefore, many people think that Rahanpur was the location of a developed city in the pre-Muslim era. The conqueror of Bengal, Ikhtiyar Uddin Muhammad Uddin Bin Bakhtiyar Khalji, stayed at Nawda Buruj during his journey to Bengal via Rahanpur. It is said that King Laxman Sen, frightened by the news of Khalji's arrival in Bakhtiyar, fled down the river. Many people from far and wide come to visit this famous structure in search of ancient traditions and history.

Chapainawabganj can be reached by road and rail from Dhaka. Buses like Mordan, Hanif and Shyamoli operate on the Dhaka-Chapainawabganj route. AC/Non AC bus fare is Tk 830-1500 depending on the standard. Besides, one can go to Chapainawabganj district by Banlata Express train from Kamalapur railway station. The fare will be 515 to 1173 taka per seat. 28 miles west of Chapainawabganj town, at the confluence of the Mahananda and Punarbhaba rivers in the Rahanpur trade center, the historic Naoda Burj is located 1 km from the Rahanpur station.

Residential hotels like Hotel Raj, Hotel Al Nahid, Hotel Sapnapuri, Hotel Rangdhanu, Hotel Najma and Hotel Sky View in Chapainawabganj district can also stay in Dak Bungalow and Circuit House of the District Council subject to permission.

Among the other places of interest in Chapainawabganj are Khaniyadighi Mosque, Alpana Village Tikiil, Darasbari Mosque, Three Dome Mosque and Chhota Sona Mosque.
