Monipuri Village Moulvibazar

Numerous tribal ethnic groups are scattered in different regions of Bangladesh. Similarly, Manipuri Village has been built around the cloth trade of Manipuri community in Adampur Union in Kamalganj Upazila of Srimangal, about 27 kilometers away from Moulvibazar city. The local Manipuris here themselves make various cloth products. There is a huge demand for Manipuri products in the country and abroad. Apart from this, due to its own culture and tradition, the fame of Manipuri has spread worldwide.

Tourists enjoy the Manipuri lifestyle and culture along with the breathtaking views of hills, tea plantations and forest land in Srimangal. Especially the traditional Manipuri dance, the Ras Mela held every year at the beginning of the Bengali Agrahayan month is notable. Various items like Khami, handwoven shawls, Chandar, Saree, Selwar-kameez, Bag, Fatwa, Punjabi can be bought in Ras Mela. Although you can buy these Manipuri products from local shops in Srimangal throughout the year, the fun of shopping from Manipuri Palli or Ras Mela is different. Besides, there is Manipuri Cultural Academy in Madhavpur along with Manipuri Palli to know Manipuri culture better.

Srimangal can be reached by taking any bus or train from Dhaka to Sylhet. Numerous buses ply this route including Hanif, Ena, Shyamoli and Sylhet Express. And from Kamalapur railway station you can reach Srimangal by Paharika, Upaban, Jayantika, Parabat and Kalni Express trains. The train ticket fare will cost from Tk 275 to Tk 627 depending on the class. Besides, if you want, you can reach Sylhet from Dhaka by air and from there you can go to Srimangal by bus or car. On reaching Srimangal, one can conveniently hire any local vehicle to reach the Manipuri village of Adampur.

Srimangal has numerous residential hotels and resorts of varying quality for overnight stays. Among the residential hotels and resorts, Hotel Marina, Tea House Rest House, Paradise Lodge, Hotel Mohsin Plaza, Novem Eco Resort, Nisarg Eco Cottage, Srimangal Tea Resort, Lemon Garden Resort, Amazon Forest Resort, Grand Sultan Tea Resort and Shanti Bari are notable.

Srimangale Grand Taj, Habib Hotel, Kutum Bari and Srimangal Inn restaurants are very popular. And don't forget to taste the famous seven-color tea at Neelakantha Tea Cabin in Srimangal.

Among the other places to visit in Moulvibazar are Tea Gardens , Lauachhara National Park , Madhavpur Lake , Baikka Bill, Tea Museum, Madhavkund and Hamham Falls.
