Modhumoti Baor Gopalganj

Modhumoti Baor is located 10 kilometers east of Kashiani Upazila of Gopalganj district. Location of Madhumati Baor across Fukra, Dhankora, Ratil, Chapta, Ghonapara, Paranpur, Suchail, Tarail, Pangkhar Char and Charbhatpara Mauza of Kashiani Upazila. In the late 1970s, the course of the Madhumati river changed and two bends were formed at a distance of 1.5 km in either direction. At the mouth of a bend, silt accumulates and the upstream mouth is closed to form a reservoir. And this reservoir is known as Madhumati Baord.

About 162 hectares of Madhumati Baord is decorated in different forms depending on the season. During the dry season, this river is 6 km long and 600 feet wide, and during the rainy season it becomes a river about 8 km long and 1200 feet wide. People of about 15 villages of Itna Union of Ratil Union and neighboring Lohagara Upazila travel through the bamboo bridge built on Madhumati Banoar. Besides, Madhumati Baor is very popular among the locals for going around the Bawar by dinghy boat in the afternoon. And this bay is also known as a native fish sanctuary.

By road, from Gabtali or Sayedabad in Dhaka, you can take Palash, Imad, Tungipara Express, Golden Line, Greenline, Comfort, Rajdhani or BRTC buses directly to Kashiani Upazila of Gopalganj district. These AC/Non-AC buses will cost Tk 500-900 depending on the class. From Kashiani you can reach Madhumati Banwar by local transport near Paranpur haat.

Bangabandhu's Mausoleum, Beet Root Canal, Arpara Munsibari, Sheikh Russell Shishu Park and Lal Shaplar Bill are notable among the sightseeing places of Gopalganj.
