Miyar Dalan Jhenaidah

Miyar Dalan is a traditional sightseeing place located in Muraridah village, just 3 km away from Jhenaidah district headquarters . The Miya building built by the zamindar Katrik in 1236 Bengal was sold to a man named Salim Chowdhury during the partition of the country in 1947. Hence it is also known as Salim Chowdhury's house to many locals. Besides, the building of Mier was specially identified by a date palm tree. And this palm tree had more than 12 tops, from each top of which juice could be extracted.

A tunnel was made through the Navaganga River from Miya's building, the entrance of which can be traced even to the present day. No other traditional structure like Mia Dalan can be seen in Jhenaidah by damming the Navaganga river. The builders, construction costs and other information are written poetically on the walls of Mia's building.

The historical inscription on the wall of Mia's building reads:

Sri Sri Ram Muraridah Gram Dham, Bibi Ashrafunnesa Naam, Ki Kahib Hurir Bakhan. Indra's Amarapur north bank of Navaganga, constructed at 75000 rupees. Whose ability in this country is like a lotus in the middle of the water. Chandra Raj, Raj Chandra Raj of Calcutta, built in 1229 and completed the building in 1236.

Jhenaidah can be reached by AC/Non-AC buses of Royal, JR, Sonar Tari, Chuadanga Deluxe and SB Paribahan from Gabtali in capital Dhaka. AC/Non-AC bus ticket price is Tk 650 to Tk 1300 per person.

Miya Dalan is easily accessible by van, rickshaw or autorickshaw from Jhenaidah Sadar, which is 3 km away.

There are various quality residential hotels to stay in Jhenaidah. Among them, one has to spend 700 to 1500 taka per night in AC/Non-AC room of Hotel Dream International. And to stay in Hotel Kutum you have to pay 500 to 800 taka.

In Jhenaidah city, you can try food, food safari, sweet, homely etc. in restaurants, besides the necessary food, you can try Ghosh's sweets, chicks from pigeon chatter and chicken jilapi.
