Madaripur Sokuni Lake

Shokuni Lake is a historical name that carries the identity of Madaripur district. The environment of Shakuni Lake, full of natural beauty, easily soothes the mind. Known as 'Shakuni Lake' in the papers, this lake is popularly known as 'Madaripur Lake' among the locals. The distance from Dhaka to Madaripur by road via Padma bridge is 128 km. There are direct buses from Dhaka's Gabtali and Keraniganj (across Naya Bazar Bridge) to Madaripur. Sarbik Paribahan, Chandra Paribahan and Sohel Paribahan buses leave for Madaripur from Gabtali bus stand. Various buses ply from Sayedabad Bus Terminal to Madaripur at regular intervals. Try to book a direct bus ticket, ticket price is Tk 350 to Tk 400 per person (variable). It takes about 3 hours to reach Madaripur by bus. Shakuni Lake can be easily reached by rickshaw fare of Tk 20 from Madaripur new bus stand.
