Lal Shapla Bill

Innumerable bills are scattered in different places of Gopalganj district. Basically most of the bills are single crop land. Paddy is grown in this land only during Boro season. During monsoon, these lands are submerged under water. Then these bills are naturally decorated with numerous red bees. And these bills are called Lal Shapla Bill .

During the monsoon, around 25 banks of Kotalipara and Tungipara upazilas of Gopalganj become colorful with thousands of red flowers. However, before 1988, only white-green beavers were seen in these bills, but after the 1988 flood, these bills were filled with red beavers. This is a wonderful scene! It is not possible to express in words if you do not see it. Lal Shapla bill on the one hand attracts tourists by increasing the natural beauty and on the other hand during the rainy season this Lal Shapla becomes a source of income for unemployed poor people.

Numerous red bees were found in about 25 bills of Kotalipara and Tungipara upazilas of Gopalganj. Among them Chhatrakanda Bill, Jowaria Bill are notable. Apart from this, Red Shapala was also found in Dongrasur Bill of Katbarari village of Durgapur Union of Gopalganj Sadar.

Tungipara can be reached directly by bus from the capital  Dhaka  . Distance from Dhaka to Tungipara via Padma Bridge is 165 km. You can go to Tungipara by Emad Paribahan, Dola Paribahan, Welcome Express bus from Dhaka's Gulistan or Syedabad bus stand. Bus seat fare per person is Tk 500-550.

For accommodation in the heart of Gopalganj district town , there are several standard residential hotels such as Hotel Palash, Hotel Rana ( 02-6685172 ), Hotel Taj, Hotel Sohag ( 0668-61740 ), Hotel Rifat and Hotel Shimul. According to the type and standard, the room rent in these hotels ranges from 400 to 1200 taka.
