Introduction to Khan Jahan Ali Khanjeli Dighi Bagerhat

Khanjeli Dighi or Khan Jahan Ali Dighi is situated on the south side of the shrine of Hazrat Khan Jahan (RA) just 3 km away from Bagerhat town covering an area of 200 bighas. There are different opinions about the naming of Dighi. According to many, the Dighi is named “Tagore Dighi” due to the presence of an idol of the Buddhist Tagore. According to many, Khan Jahan was worshiped as Tagore by the local Hindus and under his supervision the dighi was dug.
It is known that Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (RA) left two crocodiles named Kala Pahar and Dhala Pahar in Khanjeli Dighi.
