Jagannath University Dhaka

Jagannath University is an autonomous government university located in the Sadarghat area of ​​the capital Dhaka . Jagannath University started its journey as an educational institution in 1858, but in 2005, this institution became a full-fledged university from Jagannath College.

Jagannath University, established on about 11.11 acres of land, has 4 faculties, 28 departments, about 26 thousand students and 960 teachers. The total number of buildings here is 10. Apart from this, there is a Shaheed Minar in the university premises and a commemorative sculpture of the 1971 Genocide and the Preparation of the Liberation War.

Jagannath University has successively added schools, colleges and universities to its name through a glorious history in its journey from small to big following the eternal stream of creation. At the time of its establishment, this traditional Vidyaniketan of Dhaka was called 'Dhaka Brahm School'. In 1872, Dhaka Brahm School was renamed as Jagannath School after the father of Kishorelal Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Baliati. In 1884, the Jagannath School attained the status of a second class college. Later it became a first class college in 1908.
