Itna Shahi Masjid

Itna Shahi Masjid is located in Itna Upazila of Kishoreganj District. Built in the Mughal style of architecture, the Etna Shahi Mosque is built on an altar. Surrounded by thick walls, the mosque has two arcades and three beautiful domes on the roof. It has been renovated several times locally in keeping with the original structure of the mosque. Due to some unplanned repairs, the inscription on the mosque has been covered under the cement coating. According to history, this 425-year-old Itna Shahi Mosque was built by Isa Khan Sabhasad Majlish Delwar, chief of Baro Bhuiya.

There is a difference of opinion among the locals regarding the name of this mosque. Some call it Ghaibi Mosque, while others call it Three Dome Mosque.

Other things to see besides Etna Shahi Mosque: Rent a boat and take a tour of Etna Haor. In addition to the sight of fishermen catching fish in Howare, different species of birds will be seen. You will be surprised to see the houses made of DB in Haor.

Kathir village of Dhanpur union has the house of Suryasantan zamindar Gurudayal Sarkar of Itna. Gurudayal Government College, a traditional institution of Kishoreganj district, is established on its land. Anand Mohan College's founder Anand Mohan Bose's house is located at Jaysiddhi in Itna. About Scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose Anand Mohan was Bose's maternal uncle.

If you want to visit Ghaibi Mosque, you must first come to Kishoreganj district headquarters. You can come to Kishoreganj by train or bus from Dhaka.

Kishoreganj by train from Dhaka: If you take the Egarosindhur train from Kamalapur or Airport railway station at 7:15 am, you can reach Kishoreganj by 11:00 pm. It will take 135 taka to 368 taka depending on the class to buy the train ticket. After that you have to come to Ekrampur junction of the city by easy bike for only 5 taka rent or 5 minutes on foot.

From Dhaka to Kishoreganj by bus: Take any Kishoreganj-bound bus from Mohakhali or Golapbagh bus stand to Kishoreganj Gaital bus stand. Then you have to come by easy bike to Ekrampur intersection of the city. Easybike will cost 15 taka and rickshaw will cost 30 taka.

From Ekrampur Junction, you have to take CNG or Mahendra to Chamtaghat for a fare of 40 to 50 taka. The distance from Ekrampur to Chamtaghat is twenty kilometers. Trawlers are available from Chamtaghat to Etna. It costs Tk 50 to go to Etna by trawler, and it takes about two hours. Barahati Etna Shahi Mosque can be reached by rickshaw or on foot from Etna Ghat.

There is no such accommodation system developed in Etna for tourists. Recently some modest residential hotels have been developed. So you have to come back to Kishoreganj district for night stay in good quality hotel. If you reserve a boat for the whole day from Chamtaghat, you can visit all the places in one day. In this case, depending on the size of the trawler, the rent will be 3000 to 5000 taka. Kishoreganj city has several residential hotels of different quality. Among them Gangchil, Castle Salam, Riverview, Ujan Bhati are notable.
