Hardinge Bridge

Hardinge Bridge ( Hardinge Bridge ) is a railway bridge built on the river Padma dividing Pakshi and Bheramara upazilas of Ishwardi upazila of Kushtia district . Viceroy Lord Hardinge inaugurated this bridge on March 4, 1915. The bridge is called Hardinge Bridge after Lord Hardinge. In 1889, a plan was taken to build a railway bridge over the Padma river to facilitate the rail communication of the Indian subcontinent. The foundations of Pakshi Hardinge Bridge are laid from the lowest water mark to a depth of about 160 feet. The well of pier No. 15 of this bridge is placed 159.60 feet below the lower limit and 190.60 feet below the upper limit.

Pakshi Hardinge Bridge was the deepest such structure at that time. British Chief Engineer Robert William Gales was awarded the honorary title of 'Sir' for the aesthetics of the bridge. The second largest Lalon Shah Bridge in the country has been built next to Hardinge Bridge. Various resorts and picnic spots have been built around the natural beauty around the Padma centered around the Pakshi Hardinge Bridge.
