Ghagutia Poddo Beel

In Bangladesh, lotus flowers were once seen in many places, but they are decreasing day by day. An exception here is Padmabil of Ghagutia, a border village of Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria district. For hundreds of years, thousands of lotuses have bloomed in Ghagutia's lotus fields spread over a vast area of ​​120 acres. Every year, nature lovers flock from different parts of the country to see when the lotus blossoms across the bill.

August to November is the best time to visit Padmabil in Ghagutia. The lotus flower starts blooming from August and lasts till November. During the dry season, there are lotus trees here, then paddy is cultivated in that field.

Ghagutia's Padmabil is situated in Ghagutia village near the Tripura border of Akhaura upazila, about 35 km from Brahmanbaria city. You can go by bus or train from Dhaka. If you go by bus, you have to take CNG from Brahmanbaria town. But it is best to go by train from Dhaka to Akhaura railway station. If you go by train, the fare will be Tk 140 to Tk 575 depending on the class. You can come by any of the Chittagong bound trains that stop at Akhaura. From Akhaura station, CNG should be taken to Ghagutia on rent for Tk 260-300. Ghagutia will take the BDR camp. It is best to take reserve. There is no need to worry when returning to it. You have to go around the bill by boat. Boat fare is Tk 50-60 per person.

You can take some dry food along with it. If you want to eat something good, you have to come and eat it. Nine Star beef khichuri is famous in Akhaura market. You can eat.

You can visit Ghagutia in one day to see the lotus flower. But if you want to stay then you can stay in any of the residential hotels in Akhaura.
