Doyamoyee Temple Jamalpur

Doyamoyee Temple is a traditional structure located at Zero Point in Jamalpur district town. Shri Krishna Roy Chowdhury established this temple in 1698 AD during the reign of Nawab Murshid Quli Khan. Built on about 65 percent of the land, the Dayamayi Temple houses separate temples of Shiva, Kali, Natmandir and Mansa Devi. Apart from this, the Dayamoyi temple has various beautiful paintings carved with centuries-old craftsmanship.

The nearly 321-year-old Dayamoyi temple hosts various pujas every day, and Hindu devotees who visit the Ashtami fair every year offer vows to various deities. The historic temple is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm for the convenience of tourists from different parts of the country.

Jamalpur can be reached by bus and train from the capital Dhaka. However, train is more convenient for going from Dhaka to Jamalpur. Jamalpur can be reached by Yamuna, Teesta, Brahmaputra and Agniveena Express trains from Kamalapur railway station. The train ticket fare will be Tk 175 to Tk 478 depending on the seat. If you want to go to Jamalpur by bus from Dhaka, you can take a Mahanagar, Ena or Rajeev bus from Mahakhali bus stand. The bus fare will be 450 to 550 taka depending on the class.

Arriving in Jamalpur district by bus or train, you can hire a rickshaw or an easy bike to visit the traditional Dayamayi temple located at the zero point of the city.
