Debor Dibar Stambha Naogaon

Dibar Jayastambha, a symbol of Bengali nobility, is located in the middle of Dibar Dighi in Patnitala upazila, about 33 km from Naogaon district. This obelisk of angular granite stone situated in the circular Diwar Dighi has a total height of 31 ft. 8 in., of which 6 ft. 3 in. is visible underwater and 25 ft. 5 in. above water. Circumference of each corner of the pillar is 1 foot 3 and a half inches. The upper part of the Divyak Jayastambha is decorated with various carvings of notched crowns. Situated in the picturesque surroundings, this beautiful pillar has become one of the most visited places among the locals.

History Excavated during the Pala period covering an area of ​​about 60 bighas, Dewar Dighi is also known as Karmakar's reservoir to the locals. This lake with a ghat is surrounded by paddy fields and high green hills. The pillar in the middle of the lake is built out of a solid rock. There are different theories about the architect and purpose of construction of Jayastambha. According to some, the pillar was built to commemorate his success in defeating and killing Mahipala II, while others believe that the pillar was built in memory of his father, Bhima, or during the reign of Divya, to commemorate the defeat of the Pala prince Rampala by Divya to recover the Barendra region. However, the Divyak Jayastambha is better known as a memorial to the victory of the Divyak king.

Naogaon can be reached by AC/Non-AC buses of SR, Shyamoli, Hanif or Mau Enterprises from Kalyanpur, Gabtali, Abdullahpur in Dhaka. The AC/Non-AC bus fare will be from Tk 680 to Tk 1400 depending on the bus. This Jayastambha is located at Dibar Union, 52 km from Naogaon district and 13 km west of Patnitala Sadar. From Naogaon to Najipur-Sapahar Highway, the Divyak Jayastambh can be seen on the south side of Dibor Dighi.

Patnitala upazila has several food shops of normal quality. Apart from this, there are some good quality restaurants at Gosthati intersection in Naogaon.

Other places of interest in Naogaon district include Altadighi, Dana Park and Paharpur Buddhist Vihara.
