Introduction to Damtua Waterfall Alikodom

Damatua Jharna is located in Alikadam Upazila of Bandarban District. It is one of the most beautiful fountains in Bangladesh in terms of size and beauty among the many beautiful fountains in remote places of Bandarban district. As the road leading to the waterfall is impassable, this place is now very attractive to the adventure loving tourists. Damatua Jharna is also known by several names. Among them, the names of Tuk a Jharna, Lamonei and Damtua Jharna are notable. On the way to Damtua you will find Wangpa Falls, Tuk A Jhiri Falls, and several other beautiful cascades. The road to this waterfall is not easy at all. You have to walk about 12-13 kilometers on the mountain road to reach the waterfall. So those who can't walk in hilly environment and children and elderly should not go there.

Good time to go

Can be visited at any time of the year. However, there is more water in the spring during monsoon and post-monsoon period. So it is better to go at this time. However, if it rains heavily, the road becomes very difficult. You should also consider that.

way to go

To reach Damatua Jharna, you first need to come to the 17 km point on the Alikadam-Thanchi road. There are two ways to come here. From Chakaria Upazila of Cox's Bazar via Alikadam or directly to Alikadam. Another route is from Bandarban city via Alikadam Jabar Road. However, it is the most convenient and time-saving way to become a chakriya.

Dhaka to Alikadam

Currently, Shyamli and Hanif buses run directly to Alikadam from Dhaka. Dhaka to Alikadam bus fare is Tk 850. Besides, you can go to Alikadam via Chakria. Chakria can be reached by any bus bound for Cox's Bazar. Chakria bus fare from Dhaka is 950 to 2200 taka depending on the class. When going, ask the bus supervisor to drop you at Chakaria Bazar and he will drop you. A local bus to Alikadam is available from the new bus terminal at Chakaria. Or you can go to Alikadam by local Chander car or reserve a Chander car if there are many people together.

Alikadam to Damtua Jharna

After arriving at Alikadam, you have to hire a bike from Alikadam Panbazar to Adupara at the 17 km point of Alikadam-Thanchi road. 2 people can sit on one bike, the rent will be 250-300 taka per person. You have to negotiate the rent. Or if you have more people together, you can hire Chander's car/jeep from Alikadam. There is an army camp after 10 km on the way from Alikadam. Everyone must enter their name with National ID card and phone number and take permission to go forward. And remember you must finish trekking on the same day and report back to this 10k army camp before 5pm. So time should be taken care of. At the 17 km point there is a village named Adupara and you have to get down there and start trekking. It will take around 6 hours to return from Adupara. But if you need anything before starting trekking, you can buy it in the small local shop. And for lunch, dry food should be taken in advance. You will need a guide to visit the waterfall. From Adupara you can book a guide for the whole day. You have to pay 500-800 rupees as guide fee to show you around and come back again. But here too you have to bargain. Apart from Damatua Jharna, there are several other Jharna and Jhiri, talk to the guide about what to see.

place to stay

At present the army camp does not allow to stay on the way to Damatua. You have to see Damatua Jharna and come back to Alikadam on the same day. And there is no hotel or accommodation as good as staying in Alikadam. So it is best if you return from Alikadam on that day. If you arrive from Dhaka in the morning, you can travel all day and return to Dhaka by evening bus from Alikadam. Or you can return to Chakria from Alikadam and from there you can take a convenient transport back to your destination. And if you have to stay alone, then there are local hotels, you can stay there.
