Introduction to Brahmaputra River Mymensingh

An important river in Asia is called Brahmaputra River. The Sanskrit word Brahmaputra means son of Brahma. The Brahmaputra River originates from the Jima Yongjong glacier near the Kailash peak of the Himalayas and flows eastward to Tibet as the Tsang Po before flowing into the Siong in Arunachal Pradesh and the Dihong in Assam. Then it enters Bangladesh through Kurigram district, passes through Mymensingh region and joins the Meghna River and merges into the Bay of Bengal. The length of the Brahmaputra river from its source to the Bay of Bengal is about 2900 km. In 1787, due to an earthquake, the course of the Brahmaputra river changed and the main branch of the Brahmaputra, the Yamuna river was born.
The Brahmaputra river flowing by the city of Mymensingh district has decorated its two banks with its mercy. Parks, various institutions, recreation centers, botanical gardens, etc. have been developed to enjoy the natural beauty of the river banks. Apart from this, there is an opportunity to have a picnic along the river along with boat trips in the river Brahmaputra.
